The NKA Universitas Pécs women’s basketball team delivered an incredible performance, defeating Portugal’s Sportiva/Azoris Hotels 101–42 on the road in the FIBA EuroCup C-Group. From the first minute to the last, our girls controlled the game, and the team’s 100th point was scored by Panka Dúl, who celebrated her birthday on the same day!
Some nights, everything just clicks: the rhythm, the teamwork, the energy. That was exactly the case for NKA Universitas Pécs in the Azores. Right from the tip-off, it was clear that the Pécs team came to win.
Led by Ági Studer, NKA quickly found its rhythm. Our team caused chaos on the Portuguese side with effective full-court pressure, generating numerous fast-break opportunities. Varga Alíz confidently took shots, Orsolya Tóth drove aggressively to the basket, and Julia Reisingerová dominated under the rim.
By the end of the first quarter, the lead was already in double digits—but the best was yet to come. Lexi Held ran the offense smoothly, while Eszter Rátkai and Ágnes Török added points consistently. Panka Dúl and Kinga Josepovits forced turnovers, creating even more fast-break chances. After a fall, Lexi Held had to leave the court, but the team continued to excel. By halftime, the scoreboard read 28–58, with Pécs leading in every statistical category.
In the third quarter, Orsolya Tóth’s flashes of brilliance, Kinga Josepovits’ tough work under the basket, and the energetic defense of Panka Dúl and Eszti Rátkai limited Sportiva to just eight points. Following a three-pointer from Alíz Varga, the girls surpassed 80 points.
In the final quarter, Panka Dúl and Eszter Rátkai continued to attack boldly, Adenike Olawuyi and Julia Reisingerová maintained their dominance under the rim, and Ági Studer kept the team’s rhythm steady. The 100th point was scored by birthday girl Panka Dúl, followed by a free throw from Eszti Rátkai, setting the final score at 42-101.
Head coach Zeljko Djokic commented after the game:
“Congratulations to my team. I think we took this game very seriously and made another step forward. We defended very well, and I hope no one got seriously injured because it was a very physical match. The referees allowed a lot of contact, which made things more challenging, but the girls handled it well. It was a long journey to get here, and the conditions were not easy, especially with nearly 90% humidity. Despite that, we played disciplined and focused. Performing in these circumstances is not easy, so I can only congratulate my team.”
